Bubble, Black Hole or Gold Rush? part V: A Field Guide for the AI Gold Rush

By this point in the series, the mine is no longer a metaphor behaving itself. In " AI Is a Black Hole With a Bubble at the Edge ", I argued that AI is not simply a bubble or a breakthrough. It is both more useful and more dangerous than either camp wants to admit: real technology, real adoption, real capital, but also circular financing, inflated expectations and heroic assumptions about future demand. In " When the Mine Builds Its Own Shovels ", the story moved from capital to machinery. OpenAI’s Jalapeño chip was not the end of Nvidia, but it was a sign that the largest players do not merely want to buy the tools of the AI economy. They want to build them, tune them, control them and keep more of the economics for themselves. The third turn followed the machinery into the physical world. The mine needs a grid.
